A publication on the website Fleet Europe about a disturbing report from fleet insurer NFU Mutual raised our eyebrows. The collected figures show that almost a quarter of fleets have no protection at all to prevent theft of cars from the fleet. For smaller fleets specifically, the figures are even more dramatic, because almost half of these fleets appear to have no vehicle security! Yet there are sufficient affordable applications available. High time for a wake-up call.
Number of vehicle thefts in Europe continues to rise

Furthermore, the latest report from SOCTA, a four-yearly publication by Europol, shows that only 1 in 4 owners is able to recover their stolen vehicle afterwards. Yes, you read that right: no less than 75% never see their stolen vehicle again! The rapid technological evolution also clearly plays a role in this increase in the number of thefts. Think for example of keyless access, where malicious persons with the right technological gadgets can make off with a vehicle very quickly. It is very important that fleet managers are aware of these possibilities and take the necessary measures.
